Airport Overview
Beverly Regional Airport (KBVY) is a city-owned, public-use general aviation airport spanning the North Shore communities of Beverly, Danvers and Wenham, Massachusetts, about 3 miles northwest of downtown Beverly and roughly 21 miles northeast of Boston. It is a designated reliever for Boston Logan International (BOS), absorbing general aviation and business-jet traffic that would otherwise compete for slots at Logan. The field bases over 100 aircraft, including several business jets and helicopters.
Runway Capability
KBVY's primary runway, 16/34, is 5,001 feet of grooved asphalt; the crossing runway, 09/27, is 4,755 feet. That 5,001-foot length comfortably supports light and many midsize and super-midsize jets, which is why the airport bases jets and sees regular corporate traffic. Heavy-iron operators (G550/G650, Global Express) should verify takeoff and landing performance against weight, temperature and runway length before planning KBVY.
FBO & Ground Services
FlightLevel Aviation is the FBO at Beverly, offering Titan-branded Jet-A and 100LL, line service, a heated 118' x 85' x 32' hangar that accommodates Gulfstream, Falcon and Bombardier-class aircraft, short- and long-term tie-downs, on-site maintenance, de-icing and pre-heat, crew lounge, catering, and GPU/LAV service. The FBO can be reached at 978-774-2070 (ASRI 129.725).
Customs & International Arrivals
Beverly is a U.S. Customs landing-rights airport, and FlightLevel Aviation coordinates CBP clearance by appointment. International arrivals must arrange customs in advance through the FBO; this is not a 24-hour staffed port of entry, so prior permission and adequate notice are required. The Jet Finder can advise whether clearing at Beverly or a larger New England gateway is more efficient for your itinerary.
Tower, Approaches & Planning
The airport is towered on 125.2 with seasonal daytime hours (approximately 0700-2100 mid-May through October and 0700-2000 the remainder of the year); outside those hours operations revert to CTAF. Instrument approaches include RNAV (GPS) to runways 9, 16, 27 and 34 plus a LOC/DME to runway 16. There is no ILS, so expect higher minimums during low ceilings or visibility, and plan an alternate accordingly.
Regional Context
As a North Shore reliever, KBVY gives Boston-area travelers a faster, less congested alternative to Logan for private flights, with quick highway access (Route 128/I-95) to Boston, Cape Ann, Salem and the affluent communities north of the city. For trips to Cape Cod and the Islands, Beverly is a common origin for Nantucket (ACK) and Martha's Vineyard (MVY) charters. Nearby alternates include Hanscom Field (BED), Lawrence (LWM) and Norwood Memorial (OWD).
